Scott Austin was born in Orange County, California on May 27, 1977. His career in music began as an aspiring artist in the early 90′s after a lifelong fascination with pop radio.
Austin’s foray into the music business began with an unpaid internship at Capitol Records, where he later went on to scout for the label. While at Capitol, he was credited with the early discovery of multi-platinum acts such as singer-songwriter Michelle Branch and The All-American Rejects.
In 2002, Scott’s strong convictions and insatiable drive led to his appointment as an A&R executive for Madonna’s Maverick Recording Company, where he signed and/or produced artists such as Tyler Hilton, Eric Hutchinson, Family Force 5, MoZella and others.
After a brief stint at Warner Bros. Records after its acquisition of Maverick, he subsequently went on to co-found and be appointed CEO of Authentik Artists, an independent digital label and music publishing company based in Los Angeles.
In 2011, Austin was tapped as a talent producer for NBC’s hit television show The Voice.
Austin has appeared as an industry expert on network and cable television and shared a conversation with Deepak Chopra on his Wellness show on Sirius satellite radio. He has also appeared on dozens of panels and seminars including South by Southwest, CMJ Music Marathon, New Music West and other high-profile industry events.
